Log of the bark Howland, 1851 Dec. 6-1854 March 22.

The bark Howland, with David E. Mayo as master, made several commercial voyages between Boston and Savannah, carrying lumber, pig iron, cotton, and other commodities. Other captains included Stephen G. Hammond, Sylvester Chase, and E. Emmons. The log gives details of each voyage, weather conditions, lighthouses and other ships seen, and reports on problems with mutinous crewmen. The volume was damaged from having been used as a scrapbook and there are poems clipped from newspapers laid in.

1 v. (ca. 140 p.); 40 cm.
